Despite the fact that the 69th New York State Militia was never a unit within the Irish Brigade, many of the soldiers that enlisted with the 69th NYSM, after 1st Bull Run (Manassas) re-enlisted with units of the Irish Brigade. Many of them becoming NCO’s and officers.  It feels right to commemorate the soldiers of the 69th NYSM here, along with the Irish Brigade.
